FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DENTIHEX

1What makes Dentihex the preferred choice for vets to recommend?

Dentihex contains 0.2% chlorhexidine which is the maximum concentration recommended in the WSAVA Global dental guidelines. Dentihex’s unique adhesive polymer binds to the teeth and oral mucosa providing slow release of chlorhexidine and a prolonged contact time.

2Why does contact time of chlorhexidine matter?

According to the WSAVA Global Dental Guidelines, adequate contact time is unlikely to be achieved with a chlorhexidine rinse product.  Dentihex’s adhesive polymer ensures adequate contact time for maximum anti-septic effect.

3How do I apply?

Dentihex can be applied with the applicator tip or with a finger. A pea-sized amount should be distributed around the dental arcades focussing on any particular areas of concern.

4When is it best to use?

Dentihex can be used prior to a dental procedure to reduce the oral bacterial load. It can be used at the end of a dental procedure including to pack sockets after dental extractions. It can then also be used post-dental procedure to maintain oral health.

5Should it be used daily?

Dentihex can be used daily. It can be used after brushing. The frequency of use should be on the direction of the vet. If Dentihex is used for a prolonged period, then it can cause brown discolouration of the teeth. This staining can be removed by ultrasonic scaling.

6Are there any other uses?

Dentihex can be used externally or orally wherever chlorhexidine with a prolonged contact time is required. Examples include interdigital dermatitis, superficial-moist dermatitis (hot spots) and lip-fold dermatitis.
