To round off Canine Behaviour Month, Forte Healthcare welcomed veterinary professionals to the Marriott Hotel, Metrocentre, Newcastle upon Tyne, on 29 June 2026 for an in-person CPD evening exploring Behaviour and Gastrointestinal Health.

The evening focused on the growing understanding of the gut–brain connection and its role in canine behaviour.

Presented by leading dog trainer Sue McCabe of Muttamorphosis Dog Training & Behaviour and veterinary surgeon Mandy Hood BVSc (Hons) BSc (Hons) MRCVS of Westways Veterinary Group, the CPD event provided delegates with practical, evidence-based insights into how gastrointestinal health can influence canine behaviour and how these cases can be managed in first-opinion practice.

• Recognising Hidden GI Signs
  Spotting subtle digestive issues in behaviour cases.
• Practical Treatment Approaches
  Using diet, diagnostics and gut support alongside behaviour plans.

Throughout the evening, delegates gained practical knowledge on recognising the link between gastrointestinal health and behaviour, identifying hidden GI signs in clinical cases, and incorporating diet, diagnostics and gut support into behaviour management plans. The session concluded with practical guidance on integrating nutrition, diagnostic investigations and gastrointestinal support to help improve patient outcomes.

Following the presentations, Forte Healthcare provided an update on Reconcile®, the first licensed fluoxetine for dogs, highlighting the latest CPD, training and educational resources available to veterinary professionals.
